Lost lizard droppings leaves student up the creek
2009-02-09
From The Times Lost lizard droppings leaves student up the creek
A PhD student has threatened to sue his university after technicians burnt his 35kg (5½st) bag of rare lizard faeces. Daniel Bennett returned to the University of Leeds to find his desk occupied by another student and his samples destroyed. He had collected the excrement of the rare Butaan lizard during fieldwork in the Phillipines. He said: “My personal effects had been left in boxes but there was no sign of my bag of lizard s***.” The university said the samples had been burnt by mistake after being left in an unmarked bag and that Mr Bennett had been offered £500 compensation.
